Hugh Laurie was born June 11th, 1959, in Oxford, England. His family moved to Louisiana and then to New Jersey when he was very young, and he grew up there. When he studied at Eton College, he spent time in the UK. Soon after, he moved to the United States to enroll at Princeton University.
From the late 1980s to the early 1990s, Hugh Laurie was an actor. Laurie enrolled at Julliard School of Arts in New York City, USA. Hugh’s acting career started with minor roles before landing bigger ones for TV shows. His most famous ones were St Elsewhere (1982-1988) and Blackadder II (1986).
The first significant role came along eventually, however, through the House MD series, which ran from 2004 – 2012, earning Hugh Laurie a Golden Globe Award.

In addition to playing House, Hugh Laurie is also a talented actor. Laurie can also sing well. His band, “Gracie,” was a jazz-funk fusion band that also played pop-rock and soul. Additionally, they released three albums until 1982 when Hugh decided to focus on his acting career rather than being part of an American band.
The character he plays on Jeeves & Wooster also sings in some episodes!
Most people do not realize that this British comedian/actor had significant health issues from 1989 to 1991. Two of his lungs collapsed after severe pneumonia and he had eight cases of pneumonia in two years.
In response to his health problems, he changed his lifestyle and returned entirely to the career he had left for a while, but not for good!
